I finally Netflixed Eragon, and it was absolutely awful. What's worse is that, because the post doesn't run on Sunday, I'm stuck with this movie for two days instead of one. I watched about 20 minutes, and couldn't force myself to go any further.

Every review I read was spot-on. The acting was overblown, the dialogue was stilted, the storyline only vaguely resembled the book. One thing I noticed that I hadn't heard mentioned before was the editing. The movie was two- and three-second shots tacked together all the way through. Best I can guess is that each scene had to be shot many many times, just to salvage enough tiny little slices of footage to make the movie. Even Jeremy Irons, who I normally love, couldn't save this disaster.

Oh well. I'm not really crazy about the books either.
