This post is totally TMI so if you can't handle poop talk, or if, as with some families, you believe scatological discussions are strictly for the dinner table, then mosey on, darlings.

So the little girl only poops every 3-4 days. For a while she pooped every week whether she needed to or not. It's a psychological thing - she knows it's going to hurt, so she doesn't do it, so when she finally does go it's of a size such that it really does hurt. I've unfortunately gotten the chance to hone my skills as a doula, to sit and stroke her back and try to make her relax through it. Then of course I end up wiping blood off her bottom, which makes me feel like an utter failure as a mom and doesn't do her any good either.

Happily, we've made dietary changes such that she now goes every few days and it's softer and more manageable for her. Every day her daddy comes home and says, "Well? Did she poop today?" And on days when it's clear that she has to go (because she refuses to sit on the potty in case she does poop), we just shrug and say, "It's a pooping day."

Now I say all that by way of saying, here is the cake to end all cakes, courtesy of Cake Wrecks.
